When making my bed this morning I noticed my pillows were flat and dull. So I pulled them out from their covers and did this little trick and they came back to life smelling fresh and looking great.
Homemade Linen Spray
- 2 cups white distilled vinegar
- 10-15 drops essential oil (I used lavender essential oil)
Put ingredients in a spray bottle and mix together. The vinegar works as a disinfectant. You use essential oil to make it smell the way you’d like. Lavender is a common favorite oil when associated with relaxing. There was actually a study done to see if it helped women college students who were suffering from insomnia and depression sleep better (they found that it did). You can find the study here.
Take pillows out from the covers and spray mixture on them. Set them out in the sun for a few hours occasionally flipping them over. The sun kills mold and bacteria and makes your pillows nice and fluffy again.
While my pillows were getting a nice suntan I pulled my other linens off the bed and lightly sprayed my mattress and comforter as well.
I am not sure if there is a happier place in the world than on your fresh and clean newly made bed. Springtime at it’s finest.
